The following works best represent Linsey’s current body of work and artistic style. Her signature technique combines both stick and powder forms of charcoal and soft pastels applied directly to unfinished cradled birch panels. The mediums are secured with a spray fixative before being sealed with an archival, non-yellowing cold wax applied by hand. An extension of the art itself, each piece is finished with a handcrafted solid wood frame made from hand-picked, locally milled hardwoods including poplar, walnut, and oak species.

Artist Statement

My work draws inspiration from the subtle, often overlooked moments in nature, encouraging viewers to slow down, reflect on the present, and envision a path forward. My creative practice has become a deeply cathartic journey, embracing the inherent uncertainty and imperfection of my chosen materials and methods.

Working with charcoal and soft pastels on unfinished wood grain introduces an element of messiness and unpredictability. I welcome this lack of control throughout my process: I hand-make each batch of charcoal from gathered twigs, allow the wood grain to naturally shape each composition, craft every frame from hand-selected, locally milled wood, and finish each piece with a cold wax applied by hand. This approach mirrors the natural world, fostering an acceptance of the unexpected for both myself and those who admire my creations.
