Artist Statement

Drawing inspiration from the often overlooked moments in nature, Linsey’s work explores finding peace amidst uncertainty. Through attention to overgrown trail banks, heavy fog, and tangled branches, she encourages mindfulness and quiet contemplation.

In harmony with the wood grain, she embraces the intrinsic nature of charcoal and soft pastels, welcoming unpredictability and imperfection into her process. This therapeutic practice, which includes turning collected twigs into charcoal, sealing each piece with a cold wax by hand, and building every frame from hand-selected raw material, mirrors the natural world and fosters an acceptance of the unexpected within herself and those that admire her work.

Her mission is restorative: Through her process, she invites discomfort, reflection, and possibility. Through her art, she aims to provide grounding in a desensitized world, reminding us all that a sense of awe remains accessible in the simplest materials, methods, and moments.
